GHS Announcements

Daily Announcements for Thursday March 12, 2020  
  • All activities, clubs, tutoring, practices, & credit recovery are cancelled until further notice. 
  • Track students, the track meet at Rio Rancho has been cancelled for Saturday March 14. If you have any questions please see your coach. 
  • Native American Club is now seeking our new 2020-2021 Mr. and/or Miss Dine Gallup High. 9th, 10th and 11th grade only. Pick up application form from Mr. Nez or Ms. George. Deadline is March 13, 2020 at 4PM Dine Pageant is March 27, 2020 at GHS at 6pm. 
  • MAA you will be taking a picture Friday March 13 at lunch in the Gym.   
  • Students, who have not registered for next year’s schedule through their social studies class, please come see your counselor before, during lunch or after school. If you fail to come see your counselor, they will assign classes for you. 
  • If you are, a senior and you have purchased your cap and gown and would like to be reimbursed for the cost, please come to the office to get a Parent Cost Form.  This form will have to be returned to Central Office with the original receipt, or you need assistance in purchasing your cap and gown, this is for Native American students only.  Please see Marilyn in the front office for questions. Deadline to return this form is this Friday March 13.
  • Students, if you are interested in hearing about what it takes to become a licensed plumber, pipe fitter or welder this is your chance. We will have a presentation Tuesday at 10 am, please see Tiffany in the career center.
  • Science and Engineering scholarship applications are available in the counseling office for students entering their first year of college in fall 2020, with an intention to major in the physical sciences or engineering. Please see Tiffany in the counseling office. 
  • Mildred Holmes Scholarship application are available in the counseling office for female senior students who will be attending school in the fall for education. Please see Tiffany in the counseling office. 
  • Students a reminder that tutoring/credit recovery is available through May 15, 2020. 
  • Selfies!!!!!!!!  Please start taking selfies, appropriate ones, and email them to Mrs. Trujillo for a "Selfie Page".  Remember that these Selfies must be taken during lunch. 
  • Staff and Students we will begin registering for classes for next school year starting this Friday February 21, 2020 and continuing each Friday until March 13, 2020. Registration will be done through your history class or health class. Make sure you are here on Fridays so that you can get the classes you want for your chosen pathway. Also, if you decide you wants to take an AP or Honors course you will request it through your teacher in the areas of math, English, science and social studies.  If you are not here the day your class registers you need to see your counselor immediately to get it completed, if not, your classes will be chosen for you.
  • ACT Prep resumes, we are getting ready for the April Test! Wednesday at first lunch, if you have first lunch, and Thursdays after school, open to juniors and Seniors C107. 
  • Students we will start having our Pre-Sales for Yearbook.
    • $65.00 - January 6 thru March 13th
    • $75.00 - When the Yearbooks come in. (1st week of May)
    • You can come by A206 to pre-order your Yearbook.  Sorry, we will not be accepting checks, cash only. 
  • Students you may not be in the counseling office career center during class time unless you have a written pass from your teacher or a counselor.  You may have access to the career center before school and during your lunch.  In addition, NO food or drinks are allowed in the career center.  Please see your counselor if you have questions. 
  • Students, a reminder that there is tutoring in the library Tuesday-Thursdays from 4-5:30 pm. 
  • Key Club will now have Board Meetings Mondays at 4pm and Key Club Meetings Wednesdays at 4 pm. Please see Ms. Streissguth with any questions. 
  • MAA meets every Wednesday in the weight room at 8 am. 
  • Newspaper is Wednesdays and Fridays at 8am in C107. 
  • LBGT club meetings meet every Friday during lunch in B104. 
  • Key Club meets in B104 Thursdays after school. If you like helping the community, building your college application, and making friends, stop by Thursday.
  • The Gallup High SADD Chapter (Students Against Destructive Decisions) will meet Friday mornings in the counseling office before school at 8:00 a.m. each week.  If you want to make a difference in our school and our community come check out this group.  If you want more information, see Ms. Yardley in the counseling office. 
  • The Animal Awareness group meets in B204 after school on Tuesdays. Help the animals in our community. 
  • Junior Class meetings will be every Wednesday after school in A208. 
  • Art Club is on Monday after school from 3:45 to 4:30, and Tuesday from 7:45 am to 8:20. 
  • Drama is on Wednesday after school from 3:45 to 4:30. 
  • Students, if you bring your earbuds, air pods, cell phones or any electronic device to school.  First, you are not allowed to have them out in classes. Second, if they disappear, meaning get stolen, GHS is not responsible for them.  Bring these items at your own risk!
