GHS Announcments

Daily Announcements for Thursday August 17, 2018 

  • Morning branch students:  You will take bus number 210 to the branch Friday morning (tomorrow) at 8:30 to take a tour of the campus and learn more about your CCTE classes.  Bus number 273 will pick you up at the branch and 11:05 and bring you back to Gallup High School for lunch and your afternoon classes.  You will need to take a copy of your schedule with you.  Please see Ms. Yardley in counseling TODAY to get a copy if you do not have one! 
  • Swimmers:  Pre-season practices will begin on Tuesday, August 21 and Wednesday, August 22 from 4:15 to 6:00 p.m. at the Gallup Aquatic Center. You will need to provide your own transportation to the Aquatic Center and will need a ride home.  Please bring goggles, swim cap, swimsuit and towels.  Remember Oxygen is overrated!  Please see Ms. Yardley in counseling if you have questions. 
  • Students, the Gallup High Key Club is looking for members to join their community service based club where you can volunteer to help people within the community, possibly earn grant money for college, and much more. The first meeting is today, Thursday, August 16 at 4:00pm in B104.  Donuts and Capri suns will given out for the first meeting. 
  • See Marlene Harrison the bookkeeper for a student-parking permit before Friday August 17. Starting Monday August 20 vehicles that do not have a parking permit sticker will be towed at owner’s expense. We will accept a provisional license. 
  • Students interested in running Cross Country this year can still join. Contact Coach Langer in C102 or Coach Nez in A109 or meet us after school near the Cross Country office behind the gym. 
  • Preseason softball practice for pitchers and catchers has started at Gallup High School Softball field after school, 4 PM. 
  • The GHS Cheer squad will be holding open tryouts for Benny Bengal this Friday August 17 at 4 PM in the gymnasium.  All eligible students are welcome to tryout. 
  • The first meeting of the Girls Athletic Association (GAA) will be next Wednesday August 22, after school in C102. We will hold officer elections.  Members from last year are eligible to run.  See Miss Langer to get on the ballot. 
  • Picture Day will be Tuesday September 4. 
  • The first Blood Drive for the year is going to be on September 13. All students ages 16 and up can donate blood. Students who are not yet 18, need a permission slip signed by parents. Students who are 18 do not need permission. Once permission slips are signed, bring them to the Chief Sanchez, he will make you an appointment. Teachers are also encouraged to donate.
